Hi, I’m Tammy, the heart behind Wild Sunflower Childcare.

My journey into childcare started when my daughter, Evie, was just a baby. I began volunteering at a local youth club, working with children aged 7–12, and I quickly realised I had found something I truly loved. Not long after, I attended a preschool interview on a bit of a whim… and within days, I had started my new role. That “chance” opportunity turned into seven wonderful years of building qualifications, gaining hands-on experience, and learning as much as I possibly could about early childhood development.

Although I loved working in a preschool environment, I knew I wanted to create something of my own, a setting where I could offer more personalised care, build closer bonds with children, and create a real home-from-home environment. Becoming a childminder has allowed me to do exactly that, while also giving me a better balance between my work and family life.

When I’m not childminding, I enjoy the simple things. I love Sudoku, building Lego, reading poetry, and yes, a little bit of shopping! My daughter and I also collect Pokémon cards and enjoy visiting card shows together. Our home is full of life in more ways than one, we have what feels like a mini zoo, including a snake, tarantulas, a frog, and several other fascinating animals. They’re always a great talking point!

Childcare isn’t just my career, it’s something that genuinely brings me joy. I feel incredibly lucky to do what I do every day.
