Meet Tammy
Childminder and Owner of Wild Sunflower Childcare
Hi, I'm Tammy, the heart behind Wild Sunflower Childcare.
My journey into childcare began when my daughter, Evie, was just a baby. I started volunteering at a local youth club, supporting children aged 7 to 12, and I quickly realised I had found something I truly loved.
Not long afterwards, I attended an interview at a local preschool almost on a whim. Within days, I'd started my new role, and that unexpected opportunity led to seven wonderful years of building qualifications, gaining hands-on experience and developing a deep understanding of early childhood development.
Although I loved working in a preschool, I always dreamed of creating something of my own, a place where I could provide more personalised care, build lasting relationships with families and create a genuine home-from-home environment. Becoming a childminder has allowed me to do exactly that, while also giving me a better balance between my work and family life.
When I'm not childminding, I enjoy the simple things. I love Sudoku, building LEGO, reading poetry and, yes, a little bit of shopping! My daughter and I also enjoy collecting Pokémon cards and visiting card shows together.
Our home is full of life in more ways than one. We share it with a snake, tarantulas, a frog and a few other fascinating animals. They always make a great talking point and are often something families remember after visiting!
Childcare isn't just my career—it's something that genuinely brings me joy. I feel incredibly fortunate to spend my days supporting children as they learn, grow and flourish, and I look forward to welcoming many more little sunflowers into my home.
